Treatment options for external hemorrhoids are different than those for internal hemorrhoids. A treatment to consider before surgery is to try and allow the clots to be slowly absorbed back into your body over several weeks. Warm baths, creams and ointments can be used but most experts recommend that the blood clots be surgically removed. If however, you decide to go with surgical removal of thrombosed hemorrhoids a doctor will create a small incision (cut) over the clot which will allow them to squeeze the clot out.
